Sports in Nottingham

Nottingham is home to some world class sports venues and teams. Here is our guide for sports fans visiting us at Hart’s Hotel.

Trent Bridge

Trent Bridge is a cricket ground mostly used for Test, One-day international and County cricket located in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire.

Just across the River Trent from the city of Nottingham. Trent Bridge is also the headquarters of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. As well as International cricket and Nottinghamshire’s home games, the ground has hosted the Finals Day of the Twenty20 Cup twice. In 2009 the ground was used for the ICC World Twenty20 and hosted the semi-final between South Africa and Pakistan. The site takes its name from the nearby main bridge over the Trent, and is also close to Meadow Lane and the City Ground, the football stadia of Notts County and Nottingham Forest respectively.

Nottingham Racecourse – Colwick Park

With over 100 years of history, Nottingham Racecourse offers a wealth of tradition, great facilities and excellent value for money.

At its heart is the modern Centenary Stand, complimented by the Grandstand. Nottingham Racecourse runs a fixture list starting in March until November and offers two enclosures. The Members Enclosure is Nottingham’s premier facility offering the opportunity to become a ‘Day Member’ entitling you to unlimited access to all public areas of the course. The modern Centenary Stand boasts splendid views of the racecourse, parade ring and winner’s enclosure – providing an ideal base for a perfect day. The Grandstand Enclosure is a popular choice for many racegoers, offering the largest enclosure and the ‘hubbub’ of the main betting ring.

A great day out with lively bars and fabulous views of the course from the main Grandstand viewing area.

Nottingham Forest Football Club

Have you ever wanted to tour the world-famous City Ground?

Nottingham Forest official stadium tours, which last around 90 minutes, are conducted by two-time European Cup-winning captain and club ambassador John McGovern and give Reds fans a whole new perspective on their club.

Take a look at the view from the directors’ box, make the famous journey from the dressing rooms and down the players’ tunnel and see inside the boardroom, home to the club’s two European Cups and much more.

Notts County Football Club

Notts County Football Club are a football club based in Nottingham.

Nicknamed The Magpies, the club is one of two professional football clubs in Nottingham, the other being their old enemies Nottingham Forest.

The Magpies play their home games at the Meadow Lane stadium and play in a black and white striped kit, which was the inspiration for Juventus’s strip of the same design.
